I am the Special Events Coordinator for the Office of the
Provost, Faculty Affairs office. One of my responsibilities is the Mellon
Mentoring grant. Each year faculty members are recognized for their outstanding
mentoring through the Mellon Mentoring Awards and you might have seen the call
for nominations in the USC Chronicle and the Daily Trojan. It is important that
we disseminate the call for nominations as widely as possible. We have four
categories: faculty to faculty; faculty to postdocs; faculty to graduate
students and faculty to undergraduate students. As graduate advisors you have
the unique opportunity to let all of your students know about these awards and
provide them the opportunity to recognize a faculty member who has been a mentor
to them. Would you please provide the following information to your graduate
students through your list-serves/email blast? Thank you for your assistance in
this matter. I look forward to hearing from your graduate students as they
nominate an outstanding faculty member for one of the Mellon Mentoring
Awards.
