2018 Southern California Biomedical Sciences Graduate Student Symposium

We would like to invite you to present your ongoing, basic and translational biomedical research at the 2018 Southern California Biomedical Sciences Graduate Student Symposium, hosted at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Friday, October 26. The goal of this symposium is to highlight and celebrate graduate research and to provide the opportunity to foster inter-institutional relations all across Southern California and throughout the state. It is planned by graduate students, for graduate students.

This year we are proud to present our keynote speaker, Shane Liddelow, PhD. Dr. Liddelow is assistant professor of Neuroscience and Physiology at New York University. The Liddelow laboratory studies the mechanisms that induce different forms of reactive astrocytes, and how they interact with other cells in the CNS. The symposium will also feature a Q&A panel with industry experts with experience at several biotechnology companies.

We invite all who are participating to share their work and submit an abstract of no more than 500 words as part of their free registration. Masters and PhD students are encouraged to present a poster of their research, and outstanding abstracts will be chosen for oral presentations.  Additionally, cash awards will be given out for best posters and presentations.  To register for the symposium and to submit an abstract, please go to www.graduatesymposium.org and please see the flyer for additional information. Please email socalgradsymposium@gmail.com with any questions.

If any students are interested in joining the Symposium Planning Committee, please email Madelyn.mccauley@cshs.org , we welcome students from any institution to join.

Thank you and we hope to see you and your research this year!
